 Location 4

Several locations along route up to Angeles Crest Highway.

Location 1

350 S. Grand, Pasadena.  Base of some tree on east side of street with particularly good lichens.  I forget what exactly.

Location 2

Mellow and Crown, La Canada, east side of street and slightly south of intersection.  Base of a Quercus chrysolepis covered with something.

Physcia adscendens [] [voucher]

Particularly unhealthy specimens which seem to give K-reaction.  But white corticate undersurface, abundant white cilia, and soredia produced under tips can only be one species.  Confluent into one enormous mass covering the tree base.  I've seen this in a few other places in Pasadena, too: 874 S Oakland on the base of the sweetgum, for example.  Particularly greenish when wet,

Location 3

Limb covered with _Candelaria_, blurry.

Linda Vista near Heatherside, west side of street.  Elm of some sort.  Entire tree covered with lichens(!!) Appears to be spray-painted from distance.

Close-up of young lobes, at 30x. Ascus with spores, in IKI, at 1000x. Ascus, in IKI, at 1000x. Shows thollus structure. Apo section, in water, at 400x. Apo section, in water, at 400x, polarized. Apo section, in water, at 400x. Apo section, in water, at 100x. Close-up, at 30x. Close-up with apothecium, at 30x. Close-up with apothecium, at 30x. Close-up with apothecia, at 10x. Bark covered with it. Nice one among young _Candelaria_. Nice one among _Candelaria_.
