Pasadena and La Canada, lichens.
Several locations along route up to Angeles Crest Highway.
Location 1
350 S. Grand, Pasadena. Base of some tree on east side of street with
particularly good lichens. I forget what exactly.
Location 2
Mellow and Crown, La Canada, east side of street and slightly south of
intersection. Base of a Quercus chrysolepis covered with something.
Particularly unhealthy specimens which seem to give K-reaction. But white corticate undersurface, abundant white cilia, and soredia produced under tips can only be one species. Confluent into one enormous mass covering the tree base. I've seen this in a few other places in Pasadena, too: 874 S Oakland on the base of the sweetgum, for example. Particularly greenish when wet,
Location 3

Linda Vista near Heatherside, west side of street. Elm of some sort.
Entire tree covered with lichens(!!) Appears to be spray-painted from distance.

Location 4

Arroyo Blvd and Bradford, east side of street, on leaning Quercus agrifolia. Base of oak covered with Lecanora, possibly two species, as one changes colors when wet, other stays white. However, everything I collected is L. hagenii.
