Boletus subtomentosus [] [voucher]

East side of Oakland somewhat closer to Alpine than Fillmore, in lawn.
GEN medium-large mushroom, clustered with a few scattered nearby in lawn, not far from a Lebanon cedar

Lecanora hagenii []

Last magnolia going south on Oakland on west side of street just north of Alpine.  (Also 874 S Oakland has an ash that is positively teeming with it.)

Rinodina laevigata [] [voucher]

Same magnolia as in
GEN crustose lichen, on magnolia bark
THAL lt-med gray-green, verruculose to maybe blastidiate, K-
 APO lecanorine
disk black, matte, epruinose, flat becoming convex
rim dk green like thallus, smooth, not raised, persist, filled with algae, cortex thin and uniform
partial excipular ring present on some, epi brown due to paraphyses tips, hymen clear, hypo clear
para simple, abruptly clavate, tips with brown caps
no crystals
SPORE clear then gray then dk brown, ellip, smooth, 2 cell, 8 per ascus
uneven walls apical thickening and angular septum when young, lumina inflating in age, sometimes losing apical thickening, torus present and swelling slightly in K
two layers visible at septum in maturity, sometimes curved when young, 14-15x7-8um
Spores are seemingly too small.  I saw a number with K+ swollen septa, so I tried Dirinaria-type spores for a while (R. santa-monicae, R. californiensis) but it just doesn't work.  See ID on 20080826 for confirmation of Physcia-type spores and scabrid thallus, verifying R. laevigata diagnosis.

Minute thallus establishing in algae.

Physciella? []

Same magnolia as in .
