 Fungi

 Lichens
 Bear
Cabin and shed across pond from causeway. Lush herbage in birch forest in flood plain by Hemp Creek. Aspen parkland. Clearwater Valley, sky overexposed. Aspen parkland and Clearwater Valley. Clearwater River and lichen-covered cliff in foreground. Clearwater River and Hemp Creek, sky overexposed. Open aspen parkland. View of confluence, sky overexposed. View of confluence with penstemon and hoodoos. Hoodoo. Same but with cliff on other side showing. Hemp Creek Canyon with penstemon in foreground. Hemp Creek and cliffs. Against Hemp Creek in background. Scattered flowers among pines. Hemp Creek from Hoodoo Trail. Coal Creek Falls from Hoodoo Trail. Aspen and valley, horizontal. Aspen and valley, vertical. Hemp creek from bridge. Trail, rain clouds moving in. Hemp creek canyon, vertical. Hemp creek canyon, horizontal. Sunny open aspen woodland.

Walked to confluence and back, out via Hoodoo Trail, back via Hemp Creek Trail. Glorious hike!

Fungi

Two squashed ones in sun. Beautiful fresh one, mottled lighting.

Morchella esculenta []

Sunny group, quarter view.

Pleurotus ostreatus []

 GEN on birch log
 SPORE print sl off-white

Pycnoporus cinnabarinus []

 GEN on birch log
 CAP dull or pale orange
 GILL vivid orange

Drawing of spores, cystidia, cuticle, gill section. Drawing on cystidia, gill tissue, spores (bad). Same group, with one knocked over. Beautiful group, quarter view.

brown-spored pluteus []

GEN medium to large mushroom, clustered at base of aspen, but not directly on wood apparently, no odor
ST 80x10mm, whitish, smooth, shiny, fibrous, splitting when bent, solid, whitsh inside, no bruising
CAP convex, dry, smooth, matte, whitish with brownish disc and immediate marg, marg split for short distance, ~60mm wide
 VEIL none
GILL att, pale brown darkening to cinnamon brown, close, somewhat wavy, not very wide, edges min erose and paler than faces, tissue cellular neither divergent or convergent, cells ~60x20um clear rounded rectangles
cystidia bublbous base, conspic rising above basidia, tipped with mace-like thing with 2-3 or more horns in all directions, ~40um tall, ~20um wide at base, 5um wide at neck
no droplets (but it was dry)
SPORE print brown, dried before I got a good print, cinnamon in mass on gills, 8-9x4-5um, oblong, smooth, no germ pore or apiculus, often sl misshapen, weak fine texture inside, no bubbles
Hebeloma apparently doesn't have wacky cystidia? Inocybe is perfect but has filamentous cuticle (and odor). Pluteus is even more perfect but has pink or at least flesh-colored spore print.  Hmmm.  I can't figure where to go next...

Beautiful one, quarter view.

Coltricia cinnamomea []

(stalked polypore by horse trail)
CAP 7-8mm wide, vase, continuous with narrow stalk, lt cinnamon brown, faintly zoned, min scurfy, depressed, K+ black
 PORE beige, decurrent

Suillus lakei []

By horse trail.
GEN med bolete, on trail bank, two within a foot or so, one younger
ST 30x10, bent, reddish-fibrillose like cap, don't see any sign of glands, remnants of veil present as wooly zone near top where pores stop, solid
CAP 40mm wide, convex, dk reddish-brown fibrillose, remnants of wispy veil under margin all around edge
FLESH thick, spongy, pale yellow, no bruising
PORE ochre, sl decur, bruise dark but not blue
 SPORE print yellowish-brown

Boletus []

By trail near confluence.
GEN med-large bolete, solitary, on trail bank
ST 70x20mm, broadening below the taper to abrupty point at ground, solid, reticulate ridged, brown on ridge edges, no sign of veil, stain yellow at v base
CAP 40-70mm, deeply convex, fleshy heavy thing, brown but strongly areolate showing off-white flesh through copious cracks, faintly tomentose but not fibrillose
FLESH 15-20mm thick, off-white, firm to sl spongy, not discoloring, no odor
PORE off-white, 2-3 per mm, up to 15mm long, soft, notched
SPORE print lt yellow-brown, smooth, ellip, not lopped, 19-25(35!)x5-6um, some bubbles in many
Looked through Smith's "Boletes of Michigan" at length  it doesn't key out, nor are there any matching Boletus with spores this size (long and narrow).  The yellow-staining base seems anomalous.  It is visible in the dried specimen that molded (alas!), but not the good one that I've kept.

Knocked over, in sun. Side view, blurry.

Panaeolus campanulatus []

GEN tiny mushroom, solitary, in dry dirt at edge of trail
ST 30x1mm, flexible and not breaking, no stain or bruise or bleeding, rosy tan darkening to blackish near base, min scurfy
CAP ~7-8mm, bell, dry, smooth, pale tan, solid color, tattered remnants of thin whitish veil hanging from marg, perhaps broadly umbo
GILL pale gray, att, black spores clearly visible at 30x
 SPORE print black

H&C doesn't seem to have this one.  Only ternate-leaved saxifrage I could find is Tiarella which has 10 stamens.  Shoot, no, it's an Apiaceae, probably Osmorhiza, but without a fruit, there's no way to be sure.
