Oh, I see, wow this is a weird plant. So that was a bisexual plant. The others that look similar but don't look similar are female plants. Here's some more notes.
| | ST | | erect but sharply repent just below the ground, palmate leaves arising from stolon-like root attached to main rootstock, stem wuite thick (up to 10mm or more), same hair as leaves and involucre |
| | LF | | v thinly tomentose and clear gland bristly| caul | | large bract-like things, strongly clasping and appressed to stem |
| basal | | not directly or obviously associated with the flowering stalk, deeply-lobed, palmate, apparently these will get quite large later |
|
| | INFL | | nodding in female-only plants, erect in bisexual plants, quite a few in a dense term panicle, weakly dome-shaped top |
| | PHYL | | single series, ~6x1mm, abrupt acute tip, appress, green, clear long gland bristly |
| | RAY | | only on bisex plants, ~5x1mm, ragged |
| | DISC | | large on bisex plants, v thin and hidden in female plants |
| | STYLE | | min bristly thick and scarcely divided at all on bisex plants, more delicate not hairy and more obviously divided (but only at v tip) on female plants |

Mycobilimbia carneoalbida []

Equisetum sylvaticum []
| | GEN | | horsetail, in damp patch along trail to shed, with Petasites above |
| | ST | | robust, dimorphic, ~10 ridges, v min little spreading "spicules" along ridges, sheath tips joined into a few large brownish teeth, whorled brs present |
Equisetum arvense []
| | GEN | | horsetail, in damp patch along trail to shed, with Petasites above |
| | ST | | delicate, dimorphic? (no cones seen yet), ~10 ridges, v min clear pappilae near top, nearly smooth below, branches spreading and simple, sheath ~7-8mm, teeth narr lanceolate, teeth w dark brown base, white around this then scarious brownish above that |
The other one that comes close is
E. pratense but it is supposed to be more robust with deltate teeth on sheaths.

Salix
Another one on the little causeway by the bench (until the bench moves!). Just took photos and sample of female aments for later. Obviously need leaves to do anything with these willows.
Selasphorus rufus []
Dendroica cornata "audubon" []
