Peltigera polydactylon [] [voucher]
| | GEN | | felt lichen, on mossy rock |
| | THAL | | dk green when wet, drying brown, shiny, smooth, v crisped marg, tons of lobules all over surface and margs, dark bel right to edge, some circ to ellip white interspaces scattered, black pointed rhiz common |
| | APO | | one found, medium red, saddle-shaped |
I'm told I should ignore its most salient feature
the scales. Doing so, it keys out readily (and apparently correctly) to
P. polydactylon. I feel obliged to note that the description doesn't so much as mention scales in passing.
Brodo in fact goes so far as to explicitly say that it does
not have lobules. This genus is a joke.
