Spahats and along road, lichens.

Went for a short stroll over crusty snow above Spahats Falls trailhead turnoff. Collected a bunch of crusts on cedar bark, and one from a mossy log and another crust from what looked to be a dead birch or alder?

Nephroma helveticum-group [] [voucher]

On top side of mossy log.
THAL gray, mostly rather shiny, darker at tips, broad lacinules along margins, red-brown round apothecia born under a few lobe tips, white to gray-brown bel and faintly fuzzy
Looks rather different, so I assumed it was something new.

These are all on cedar.

Chrysothrix []

Calicium viride []

stubby black calicioid

minute black calicioid

brown head calicioid

Imshaugia aleurites [] [voucher]

Trevor collected this from the same general area, same general time.

Also went for a walk along the Clearwater Road near Edgewood Blue and collected a some Xanthoria and a Caliciopsis from cottonwoods and doug fir in barn yard.

Xanthoria fulva [] [voucher]

THAL appressed to ascending, granular isidia on margins and underneath never on top, lobes narrow, white rhiz present on one of the two specimens as well as apothecia, pycnidia not raised if present

Caliciopsis [] [voucher]

THAL tiny black stalks in clumps, swollen in middle, brown mazaedial heads
Apparently unlichenized, thus not covered below genus level.  Alas.
