Madison Heights, mica cap.
Coprinus micaceus []
Base of magnolia at extreme south end of Magnolia, on east side. This description is from memory I didn't take a sample.
| | GEN | | med mushroom, cluster at base of magnolia |
| | ST | | stout, about same length as height of cap, whitish |
| | CAP | | 20-30x30-40mm, conical, buff, covered w little whitish flakes |
| | GILL | | blackening then liquefying |
They were withered the next day, then just a pile of goo the following. There is a good description w excellent photos at
<mushroomexpert:coprinus_micaceus.html>. It is a distinctive mushroom. It is also reliable: I've seen them various times each year at the base of the same tree for several years.
