Lawn on NW corner of Marengo and Fillmore and a bit westward between sidewalk and road.






Bolbitius coprophilus []

Tough ID
not even sure of the genus or family! I need to go out early tomorrow morning or late tonight to check fresh mushrooms for slime. (Yes! They are delightfully slimy!) No photos on the web (that I can find).
(20071006) Nathan Wilson (and indirectly Darvin DeShazer) suggest that this might be B. coprophilus. Until I see some comparison of these species, it doesn't seem worth changing my ID. Yes, the photos and brief descriptions I find for B. coprophilus on the web match well enough... but they overlap the other two almost completely, as well!

Haha! I didn't recognize it because it was so young and dark and small.
