Amandinea punctata [] [voucher] 

Base of clump of fan palms noticeably green from sprinklers.  In nice lawn on SW corner of Encino and Hillcrest in San Marino near the Ritz.

 THAL v thin to endophloeic, greyish-whitish, K-, C-, KC-(or v faint pink?)

 ALG green
 APO black disk, 0.1-0.2mm, scattered, rim sl raised, superficial, para br'd and swollen near tips & brown at v tips, hymen clear & 70-80um, asc w even thin uniformly blue-staining tip
 SPORE 8 per ascus, brown, ellip, smooth, 2 cell, thin even septum, 13-16x7-9um, often bent
Nash keys it to Buellia s. l. but I don't have volume III yet (indeed no one does!). Brodo keys it to A. punctata fairly convincingly, but it covers very few in the Buellia group, so this shouldn't be taken as the final word.  However, see my comments from 20070620, where I predicted that it would be A. punctata based on studies done of urban lichens.
