Madison Heights, black dot lichen.


Base of clump of fan palms noticeably green from sprinklers. In nice lawn on SW corner of Encino and Hillcrest in San Marino near the Ritz.

Nash keys it to
Buellia s. l. but I don't have volume III yet (indeed no one does!).
Brodo keys it to
A. punctata fairly convincingly, but it covers very few in the
Buellia group, so this shouldn't be taken as the final word. However, see my comments from
20070620, where I predicted that it would be
A. punctata based on studies done of urban lichens.
