Lecanora hagenii [] 

Fine example of how water creates zones leeched free of nutrients.  In this case the sprinklers for the surrounding lawn have bleached one side of a magnolia trunk, which is surrounded by a zone that is periodically moist (therefore supporting a healthy growth of algae).

Marginal specimen in flower.
