Cladonia chlorophaea [] [voucher]

 THAL
squamules shall lobed, 2-3mm, ecort, no sored, "clean"
podetia to 20mm tall, stem ~1.5mm wide, cup to 5mm wide, well formed cups to v sl ragged rim, covered with fine soredia at top grading to granular to phyllidia at base, many have small scales on bottom third
pycnidia dk brown, K-, C-, KC-
 MED K-, P+o/r
The soredia is too fine to be C. chlorophaea (not!!), and it doesn't have sorediate squamules so it can't be C. fimbriata, nor can it be any of the even narrower-cupped species like C. subfimbriata.  I don't have info on others like C. grayi and C. merochlorophaea.

On base of pine.

Cladonia coniocraea []

Apothecial form, closest. Apothecial form, closer. Apothecial form, showing whole clump.

 MED P+ o/r
APO red abundant to 2-3mm wide
I keep bouncing back and forth on this one between C. macilenta and C. umbricola.  I'm convinced now that it is C. umbricola due to sheltered location and large divided squamules.

Under mossy log.
