Santa Monica Mts and Pine Mt, many lichens.
On Rte 23 / Mulholland halfway between the 101 and 1, just north of where Mulholland splits off and heads west. This is the turnoff on the east side of the road by a rock cropping. Chaparral mostly of chamise and scrub oak with a few ceanothus, silk tassel, etc. Fairly flat spot near top of ridge.

Turnoff about 0.5 to 1.0 miles north of Pine Mt Summit on 33. Old road
heads off on outside around roadcut; big turnoff just past on inside. Mixed forest, mostly doug fir and oak. Not very open, but not deeply shaded either. On north facing slope in broad shallow gully.
