Port Bougainvillea, mostly fungi.

Just rained buckets last night and had a spare hour to do a quick tour of Port Bougainvillea.  Lots of Mycena, several Lentinus detonsus, and some other excellent ones mentioned and/or described below.

Underside, at 10x. Close-up of underside, at 10x.  Presumably the fertile surface is hidden by the hair? Close-up of underside, at 30x.  Presumably the fertile surface is hidden by the hair? Close-up of some small cute ones, on rotting limb. Close-up of one beautiful clump, on rotting limb.

antler fungus

GEN small shelf mushroom, on bark of dead limb
 ST none
CAP branched like antlers, brown, silky hairy, strongly rolled under, K+ black
 GILL reddish cinnamon brown
 SPORE

Spores, at 1000x.  Marks are um.  Probably immature.  Water mount. Spores, at 400x.  Marks are 2.5um.  Probably immature.  Dry mount. Cross section of a beautiful button. Beautiful button, knocked over. Beautiful button, side view.

Agaricus abruptibulbus []

Young specimen with partial veil still in tact.
GEN med-small mushroom, on ground beside road

CAP 35x25mm, white, smooth, min fibrillose, dry, K+ distinct yell
 FLESH 5mm, whitish, firm
 GILL free, 4mm, off-white but aging pinkish-brown
SPORE print ?, colorless, smooth, round to ellip, 5-6x4-5um, some sort of depression or hole inside
Too young to get good spore print, but the gills turning pinkish-brown with age clinch the genus, anyway.

Blurry shot of several.  (I think the color is off here, as well.)Nice damp set, on rotten log.  (Note the color is different in the next photo: I think this is more correct.)

Calocera cornea []

GEN tiny fungus, on fallen log
CAP gelatinous but v tough, v bright yellow, less tha 10mm long, rounded oblong to spatulate, rarely forked, growing straight out from log, dker around base, impossible to detach by hand
Doesn't look much like the one I recorded from the smokies on 20060715, but who knows...

Spore, at 1000x.  Marks are um.  Water mount. Spores, at 400x.  Marks are 2.5um.  Dry mount. Damp one, knocked over. Beautiful damp one, side view.

GEN small mushroom, on hardwood limb on ground
ST 45x2.5-8mm, bulbous base, smooth, same color as cap, no ring (actually photo shows remnants of an evanescent one), hollow, stuffed with white cotton at base
CAP 25mm, conical, delicate, pale but soncpic lemon yell, shiny-smooth, min plicate, min lacerate marg, dker and sl granulose/pubesc knob?
GILL same color, v thin, clean, att?
SPORE print whitish, colorless, ovoid, 10-11x7-8um, dry rafts, cool bubble in back end, knob
Yikes!  I keyed this one totally wrong  I just happened to see it's photo while checking out my Agaricus californicus abaove...

Spores, at 400x.  Marks are 2.5um. Spores, at 1000x.  Marks are um. Spores, at 1000x.  Marks are um. Close-up of gills.  (What happened to the color??)Gills. Perfect one, side view.

FLESH 1mm or so, whitish, soft
GILL white, free, 2 per mm or so, 3-5mm deep, min conspic ragged edge
SPORE print white, 5-6x3-4um, colorless, smooth, ellip, min knobbed, sticking in dry masses, no texture at all
Don't know this genus yet.

Spores at 400x.  Marks are 2.5um.  Note how they look wet, even though this is a dry mount. Spore, at 400x.  Marks are 2.5um. Nice shot of gorgeous angular pores. Some fresh beautiful ones on stump, top/side view.

Polyporus "hairy mori" []

SPORE print ?, colorless, weakly textured, oblong to bean-shaped, min conspic knob, 10-13x4-5um, sticking in wet rafts
Keys convincingly to P. mori, but in the description Arora explicitly says it lack hairs on the cap!  Close but no cigar.

Younger one, on ground, top/side view. Old crusty one, on ground, top/side view.

Polyporus fagicola []

GEN med-large mushroom, free-standing shelf on ground or buried wood
ST central but pores decurrent and it's not clear where it stops and ends if it even exists, stout
