Platismatia tuckermannii [voucher]

On Tigger's Trot 60% to top; fairly common; on bark and twigs; these samples both from dead mountain laurel limbs.
GEN fruticose-foliose lichen
THAL ragged ascending thin lobes, lobes 3-10mm wide, v conspic wrinkled, med grey green, "soiled" w green stains (apparently algae), mottled w irreg white maculae, tiny black spots around marg (pycnidia), whiny white to tan bel and also much wrinkled, no rhiz visible anywhere, v thin and crackly or papery
cortex K+ yell, C-, KC+ yell K swamping C maybe
APO many, shiny red-gold-brown cups, 1-4mm wide, rather convex, v raised, near or at margs near lobe tips

Usnea subfloridana [voucher]

On Tigger's Trot (called it "compact pendulous").
GEN beard lichen, subpend
THAL v d and finely br'd, brs thin and flexible, blackened at base, med greyish green, d short fibrillose, weakly pap, tiny isidia soralia creating "thorny" clusts, cortex hard and brittle, axis v sl pinkish to colorless, cortex 16% medulla 19% axis 30%
MED white, K+ yell to sl orangish, C-, KC-

Usnea ceratina [voucher]

On Tigger's Trot (called them "long pend" "scraggly"). From v long and pendulous to scraggly and sparsely compact. Are these two species? They have the same microscopic and chemical properties, but the habits are so completely different.
