Irpex lacteus 

On flaking bark of standing dead sumac on Tobacco Road.

Ramalina culbersoniorum [voucher] 

Scattered among Usneas on sumac and apple bark and twigs on Tobacco Road and vicinity.

 THAL spreading but not particularly pend, well br'd from single pt of att, brs flat, shiny lt yellish green, irreg sinewy textured, faint whitish streaks, whiter bel, 2-5mm wide, some min warts near marg on some brs
 MED white, v thin, K+ weak yell, C-, KC+ orange, CK+ yell
 APO disks, pink inside, to 3mm wide, scattered, not uncommon, well raised, att near tips of brs (either center or marg), v white pruinose, marg does not look lecanorine
 SPORE colorless, smooth, 2 cell, cell wall thin, septum perfectly straight, ellip-oblong, v sl bent, 12-13x5-6um, 8 per ascus

Usnea ceratina 

Not common; found this one on sumacs on Tobacco Road.

 THAL v long and pend, to 250-300mm long, many perp brs near base, not many cracks, lt green, hard cortex, v d pap, v d fibrillose, no apo, no isidia, no soredia, axis white to pink, cortex 12% medulla 20% axis 35%, cortex hard
 MED white to pink, fairly soft (disintigrates v easily in K), K+ orange, C-, CK+ bright yell orange, KC+ yellow (probably from cortex)
Chemistry looks off, and the photo is way off, but it keys to this fairly consistently.  The white-topped tubercles v rarely grow actual isidia, and are absent or merely dense papillae throughout most of the thallus.  Looks totally different from yesterday's one, but chemistry is the same, all the same features are present, just in vastly different relative abundance.

Section and sl pinkish axis, at 30x. Fibrils, at 30x. Sorediate soralia, at 30x. 

Usnea filipendula [voucher] 

Not common, I think; this one on sumac on Tobacco Road.

 THAL pend but stiff, well-br'd w some esp thick darkish brs near base, smooth and dull and dk near base, med grey-yell-green, sp pap, some brs d w short fibrils, some tiny soralia w tiny isidia, axis pinkish, cortex 14% medulla 22% axis 28%
 MED whitish, K+ CK+ KC+ yell turning quickly blood red, C-
 APO none

Usnea strigosa [voucher] 

Very common; on all manner of decid trees.

 THAL lt yell green, d br'd shrubby thing, not pend, v d fibrilose (some short and almost like isidia or papillae), otherwise smooth and shiny, axis v thick and dk pink
 MED pink, v thin, K-, C-
 APO common, concave, small to huge, pinkish or yellowish, pruinose, lots of long and short fibrils from marg
