Mogollon Rim, mostly lichens. 

FR300 5 miles or so W of 260.  Most rock lichens and Pseudevernia from right on rim, the rest inland some way.

Cheilanthes fendleri [voucher] 

Under boulders, inland or right next to rim. 
 GEN short creeping
 ST reddish brown, scaly
scales lt brown w dk brown spot near base, all entire, lance, from hair-like and short to broad and rather long
 LF 3-pin, segs bead-like, lance, v sl rounded base, short acute to long acum tip, completely glab both sides, v d scaly bel
scales broad lance, entire, white w brown spot at base, 2x1mm
edges v tightly revol creating false indusium

Usnea cavernosa 

On conifer inland, rare here. 
 GEN v long pend lichen, on conifer twig
 THAL usnea-cords, few fine black-tipped side brs, no pap or isid or sored, ridged, cortex KC+ yell, C-, K-, medulla 33%, axis 33%
 MED white, K-, KC-, C-, lax
 ALG green

Usnea rigida 

On conifer bark, inland, rare here. 
 GEN bushy tufted lichen, on conifer bark
 THAL usnea-cords, round, no ridges or isid or sored, lots of pap of varying length some even br'd on rim of apo
 MED white, K-
 APO solid lt green like thallus, wide, v d pap on back and edge (less on back)
If medulla were K+ yell turning red, then it would've been U. arizonica.

Usnea hirta 

On conifer bark all over, abundant. 
 GEN bushy to pend lichen, on conifer bark
 THAL usnea-cords, v isidiate (irreg dispersed  not in soralia), mostly terete but some might be ridged
 MED white, K-, C-, KC-
This one never gives me warm fuzzy feelings...

Dermatocarpon taminium [] [voucher] 

 GEN foliose lichen
 THAL umbilicate, v d white pruinose over brown background, v d min brown dots (pycnidia) w scattered bigger brown dots (perethecia), fairly smooth, med brown bel, smooth but distinctly finely retic-wrinkled bel, not farinose

Dermatocarpon moulinsii [] [voucher] 

 GEN foliose lichen, on sandstone
 THAL umbilicate, lt grey to med brown, pruinose, thin, barely lobed but cracked showing black through, black bel w stubby pap-like rhiz-like things (some br'd), few black dots ab
 MED wh, v thin
 ALG green

Cladonia chlorophaea?

 THAL granular cups and stalks, squamules glab

Cladonia ochrochlora?

Rhizoplaca chrysoleuca 

Common under rim.

Lasallia 

Fairly rare here.

 APO many, small, black, v thick raised rough angular marg
Just doesn't key to species no matter what I try.  Pustules are supposed to clinch genus, though.

Umbilicaria hyperborea? 

Common. 
 GEN foliose lichen, on sandstone
 THAL umbilicate, brown, smooth, wide and curled under, K-, C-, KC+ black(!), v min and steeply rounded wormy-ridged, ridges crowded and smooth, brown base under ridges, smooth med brown bel (blacker near umbilicus)
 MED wh, K-, KC- to orange near alg with yell slowly bleeding out, C- to sl red bits here and there near alg
 ALG green
 APO black, raised, v contorted ridge pattern inside

Peltigera rufescens 

Few.

 THAL thin, flex, broad upturned wavy lobes, dk grey-black hidden under thick wh tom ab, wh tom bel w network of brown veins and rhiz of tufted tom

Melanelia olivacea 

Abundant.

 THAL broad, close, thin, olive to brown, smooth to wrinkled inside, tiny wh dots near lobe tips and on apo marg, black pycnidia present, lt brown w sp rhiz all over bel
 MED white, K-, KC-, C-
 ALG green
 APO rich shiny brown, small to large, v concave, marg rough

Xanthoparmelia cumberlandia 

Abundant. 
 GEN foliose lichen, on sandstone
 THAL moderately appress, yell-green, K+ yell, KC+ yell, smooth to wrinkled in old parts, pale tan bel, no cil, rhiz unbr, black edges ab
 MED white, K+ yell (does not turn orange or red with time)
 APO rich shiny brown, lots
