Ventana trail to pockets and back.  Both flowers from near mouth of canyon.

Verbena gooddingii 

In wash. 
 GEN herb, cesp
 LF 20x15+5mm, lobes 2mm wide, 2-3 pairs of lat lobes, tips acute, lter bel, v d long spreading soft bristly w some clear glands near tips of a few, midvein and midvein of lobes imp ab and raised bel, some lobes further lobed
 INFL term head
 SEP 5, join, 10x1.5mm, joined by webbed membrane, teeth lin thread 1-2mm long, bristly
 PET 5, join, sl bilat, salverform, vivid magenta, tube 15x1mm, lobes 2.5x1.5mm or so (wilted a bit already)
tube opening v small, filled w white hairs
hairy outside and sp so inside

Stephanomeria pauciflora pauciflora 

At base of cliff in wash. 
 GEN tall spindly br'd herb
 LF scales, glab
 INFL scattered in fews in axils
 PHYL 8x1mm and much shorter, relatively few, erect, glab, abruptly acute
 RECEPT none
 RAY 5, pinkish white
limb 4x4mm, strap, 5 toothed
 DISC none
 FR beaked? 
 PAP maybe as many as 20 v plumose equal white to tannish bristles
