Madison Heights, mushroom and moss. 

Spores, at 1000x.  Marks are um. 

Coprinus micaceus 

The ones on NW corner of Alpine and Magnolia  fairly reliable after a few days after a rain any time of year. 
 SPORE 8x5.5um, brown, ellip, smooth, 1 cell, with "pore" at one end making it conspic asym

Grimmia pulvinata? 

Moss on bricks on W side of Magnolia few houses S of Fillmore. 
 GEN low cushion to carpet moss, on bricks
 LF oblong to sl oblance, obtuse, costa extend 20% past tip, flat when moist, folded when dry, marg two rows of two cells thick, d min pap (can see at v edge of lf where it turns under or in x-sect), costa raised equally ab and bel, cells v indistinct green rounded squares about 10um across ab middle, cells swollen thin-wall clear rectangular 50x25um bel esp big near base, 2.2-2.5x0.6mm, point 0.4mm

seta 6mm, straight, smooth, yell-green
cap 2mm, cyl, smooth, still young
peristome not developed yet
operculum present, still v young
calyptra long, narr, cucullate, covers 40% cap or so
Supposedly G. pulvinata has curved seta, but it is by far the most common urban moss.  Sure doesn't seem to match drawings and pictures I can find on the web, but surely this is what it is??
