Galium triflorum [voucher]

 GEN decumb
 ST glab
LF 6's, apic, oblance, retrorse barbed
Could also be G. aparine.  According to RA&B the differences are:

1) G. aparine:
 LF 6-8, oblance, 20-45mm long
 FR bristly

2) G. asprellum:
 LF 5-6, ellipt, 5-22mm long
 FR smooth

Since no leaves were in groups of more than 6, I'm inclined to believe it is the less common (2) from the mountains.  Also, (1) prefers meadows and waste places, while (2) prefers bogs and stream beds (where this specimen was found). Lastly, (1) flowers much earlier than (2), further reinforcing (2).

No, both wrong.  Came back to it on 20051125, definitely G. triflorum: fruit is bristly, so not G. asprellum; stems way too weakly retrorse barbed, leaves too wide, and margins antrorse ciliate, so not G. aparine.

Sev small specimens.

STYLE 8mm, wh to purpish, glab, stig no wider than style & apparently entire
Dicks says that pink fls under 0.5 inches with upper lip not spreading as much and inside of fl glab is A. tenuifolia.

(Note: Agalinis can be lumped into Gerardia along with Aureolaria and perhaps others.)

 GEN solit, on ground
ST white, min scurfy and v wh scurfy at base, ragged wh veil has fallen off onto ground, base bulbous but no cup
